Bernard C. Markey, age 88, of Boiling Springs, PA died February 5, 2024. He was born February 5, 1936 in Summit Hill, PA to the late Charles and Anna (Bobick) Markey. He graduated from Lansford High School and later joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean war. Bernie retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in Summit Hill. He also worked for St. Joseph Church in cemetery maintenance and as a parking lot attendant at the Carbon County Courthouse. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Summit Hill, American Legion Post 316 and was honored as Grand Marshall of the 2017 Summit Hill Memorial Day Parade. He played basketball in summer leagues, enjoyed his many trips to Las Vegas, connecting with facebook friends and spending time at his beach condo in Brigantine, NJ. Bernie was also a long time avid New York Yankees fan. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ann (Gavula) Markey, son Charles (Cheryl) of Wellsville, daughter Margaret Mary Storch (John) of Boiling Springs, son Bernard (Marilyn) of Summit Hill and John (Staci) of Franklintown,. Four grandsons, John and Robert Markey, Tyler (Meredith) Storch and Arron (Fiancé' Nicole Huffer) Storch. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in his name to St. Joseph Church, Summit Hill would be appreciated by the family. David D.
