Michael B. Konidas, age 86, of Barnesville, passed away Saturday morning at his home. Born in New Boston he was the son of the late Michael and Sophia (Zegley) Konidas. He was a graduate of Mahanoy Township High School and served with the United States Navy. He had been employed by ACME markets. He was a member of St. Richard's Church in Barnesville, Ryan Township Fire Company, American Legion Post 74 of Mahanoy City and the UFCW union. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, enjoyed fishing and his many trips to Canada with his friends. He also enjoyed going to the shore with his family for vacation. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his son Michael L. Konidas, a brother John and a sister Julia Mikrut. Survivors include his wife of 66 years the former Jean Heiler, two daughters Sharon Kidd and her husband Troy of Lehighton and Michelle Staller and her fiancé' Alan Kohler of Northampton, a sister Joann Pangonis of New Boston, a granddaughter Amanda Staller as well as nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Saturday morning at 9:30 AM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Robert Finlan at 10 AM from St. Richard's Church. Interment will follow at Sky View Memorial park in Hometown.
