William Paul Obituary

Mr. William L. Paul, age 89, of Morea, passed away Monday morning at Pottsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.  Born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital, he was the son of the late William H. and Mary Paul.  He was a 1952 graduate of Mahanoy City High School, earned a general certificate through the American Institute of Banking, American Bankers Association who in 1984 awarded him a presidential citation for his efforts to enhance the image and business of banking.  He was an Army veteran inducted in  1957 and an Army Reservist retiring in 1994.  He was an inspector and instructor for the 2091st USARF School in Scranton, and First Sergeant of the 310 Transportation Company in Reading.  He hand been employed by Pennsylvania National Bank, Keystone Financial and M & T Bank retiring as vice president and manager of the Mahanoy City branch.  Active in many civic and fraternal organizations he held memberships and leadership positions in the following:   First Presbyterian Church,  Mahanoy Area Chamber of Commerce, Mahanoy City Library, American Legion Post 74, United Veterans of Mahanoy City, F A & M 357, Mahanoy City Fireman's Relief, Schuylkill United Way, TPA, American Institute of Banking Anthracite Chapter, POW/MIA Committee American Legion, BPOE 695 who awarded him Citizen of the Year in 1990, Lions Club and was past president and Chief Ambulance Director with the Citizens Fire Company # 2 and Mahanoy City Community Ambulance.  Preceding him in death were his daughters Donna and Lori and a grandson Thomas Andrusichen and a sister Jean JonesHe is survive by his wife the former Jane Brinsko and 3 grandchildren Jasmine, Angelique and Dylan.  Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Friday morning at 11 AM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City.  The Rev. Robert Adams will officiate.  Military Honors will be held at the funeral home following the service.  Interment will be private and Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning beginning at 9:30 AM.  Contributions in his name the the Citizens Fire Company or the Mahanoy City Public Library would be appreciated by the family and will be accepted at the visitation.  Please visit www.jarrettfuneralhome.com for more information.
