John Garber Obituary

John J. Garber, age 41, of Mahanoy City, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning after a brief illness at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown. Born at the former Good Samaritan Hospital in Pottsville he was the son of Roseann (Wall) Kurtz and her husband Thomas of Tamaqua and Willis Garber of Barnesville. He was a 1995 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and worked as an anesthesia technician for Lehigh Valley Anesthesia Services in Allentown. John was a dedicated volunteer firefighter and held memberships with the Citizens Fire Company # 2 and Mahanoy City EMS, the Columbia Hose Company of Shenandoah and also the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville and the Girard Hose Company in Girardville.. He was also a member of the NRA. In addition to his parents he is survived by his paternal grandmother Lila Garber of Barnesville, an aunt Sharon Wall of Hemet, CA, two uncles Steve Wall of Mahanoy City and Joel Garber Barnesville, Timothy Wirtz and Matthew Jarrett who were like brothers to him, cousins, and his canine best friend Bullet. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing to be held Sunday evening from 6 to 9 PM at David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City. Interment will be private.
