Mary R. Whitecavage, age 97, of Mahanoy City, died Saturday at Shenandoah Senior Living Community. Born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital she was the daughter of the late John & Ann (Duresky) Durko. She was a graduate of Mahanoy City High School and had been employed by City Shirt Factory. She was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City, the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union and the First Catholic Slovak Union. Preceding her in death were her husband Stephen A. Whitecavage, a son David and two daughters Pauline Kondisko and Marie Hoffner, a sister Anna Gomosky and 2 brothers John and Joseph Durko. Survivors include one son Robert and his wife Deborah of Mahanoy City, a brother William of Connecticut, grandchildren Amber, Danielle, Amy, Kristin, Kellie, Tammie, Michael and Robert, and great grandchildren Elizabeth, Anthony, Dylan, Meah, Calli, Aliyah, Karter, Kelsey, Morgan, Richard Jr. and Dominic nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher on Thursday morning at 11 AM from St. Teresa of Calcutta Church. Interment will follow in Assumption BVM Cemetery in Mahanoy Township. Friends may call at the church Thursday morning beginning at 10 AM. David D.
