Sophie P. Shaker

Sophie P. Shaker, age 96, of the village of Trenton, died peacefully Thursday morning in the company of her family in Pipersville, PA. Born in Trenton she was the daughter of the late Demetri & Sophia (Hyrskanich) Pascavage. She was a graduate of Delano High School, resided most of her life in Trenton and was a life long member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Mahanoy City. She worked for many years at the former General Cigar Factory and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband John in 1984, two infant twin sons and brothers Joseph and John and sisters Helen, Julia and Mary. Sophie is survived by 2 daughters Daria Bowman and her husband Joseph of Pipersville with whom she has resided the past few years, Nadine Waldman and her husband Harry of Villanova, PA and Boca Raton FL, a son Rod Shaker and his wife Janet of Frackville, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy to be celebrated by the Rev. James Carroll OFM on Monday morning at 11 AM from St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Mahanoy City. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery in Mahanoy Township.
