Mr. Albert J. Moncavage, age 93, of Mahanoy City died Friday morning at St. Luke's Pavilion in Hazleton.
Born in Mahanoy City he was the son of the late Stanley and Eugenia Monkiewicz.  He was a 1937 graduate of Mahanoy City High School .  He served with the United States Army in the European Theater of Operations during World War II where he was held in France and Germany as a prisoner of war for several months.  He retired from the SKF Ball bearing in Philadelphia where he worked and resided for more than 30 years returning to Mahanoy City in 1981.  He was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City.  Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife the former Evelyn D'Alessandro in 2007 and brothers Daniel, Edward, Stanley and Alfonse and sisters Sophie and Jean. The last member of his immediate family he is survived by nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher on Monday morning at 11 AM in Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church.  Interment with military honors will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery in Mahanoy Township.  Friends may call at the church on Monday morning from 10 AM until time of Mass.  David D.
