Betty Sanchez, age 78, of Mahanoy City,  died Sunday morning at Hometown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Born in Grier City she was the daughter of the late Manuel & Emilia (Katunis) Garcia.  She was a graduate of Mahanoy City High School and was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City.  She had been employed with George's Restaurant, General Cigar Factory, Rut's Restaurant, Russell Williams Garment Factory and last worked for and retired from City Shirt..  Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband Edward J. Sanchez Sr., a son Michael. 3 brothers Manuel, Paul and Albert Garcia, 2 sisters Lillian Hollenbach and Katherine Garcia.  Survivors include a son Edward J. Sanchez Jr. and his wife Donna of Ringtown, a daughter Carol Metkus and her husband Jack of Spring Texas, 7 grand children Kristin, Michelle, Stephen, Karen, John, Katie and Elizabeth. and 3 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher on Saturday morning at 11 AM from Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church.  Friends may call and visit with the family on Saturday morning beginning at 9:30 AM at the church.  Contributions in Betty's name to St. Vincent DePaul Society of the church would be appreciated.   David D.
