Popular Schuylkill County vocalist/percussionist Bonnie A. DeAngelo, 59, of St. Clair, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Nov. 29,  her family by her side, after a courageous battle against glioblastoma multiforme.

Born in Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Helen (Heloskie) DeAngelo.

Bonnie is survived by her wife and life partner of 27 years, Ethel Koenig; sister Louise Jennings, brothers Walter Urbanavage, Thomas Urbanavage, and Michael Urbanavage; and her extended family of many aunts, uncles and cousins, a niece and a nephew.

Bonnie is also survived by the children of her heart: Michelle Cook, Shannon Sterner, Edward Whalen, James Whalen, Robert Whalen, Jeffrey Whalen, and was predeceased by the late Michael Whalen.

Granddaughters Shalynn Whalen, Caroline Cook, and Traci Barlow; and the apple of her eye, her great-granddaughter Jamie Lynn Whalen.

She is also survived by Ethel’s family, her “band family,” and a close circle of friends.

Bonnie graduated from Mahanoy Area High School, Schuylkill Training and Technology Center, and Reading Area Community College, and attended Penn State University.

She was a member of the Good Times Variety Band since 1973, performing throughout the eastern United States.

Bonnie also worked as a high school band director for Shenandoah Valley School District, as a tax preparer, a van driver for Riverside Rehabilitation Center, and a chef. She also owned and operated Bonnie’s Craft & Specialty Store in Shenandoah.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Bonnie's Life on Thursday evening from 4 to 7 PM at David D. Jarrett Funeral Home. A religious service will be conducted by the Rev. James Melnic at 5:30 PM.  Contributions in Bonnie's name to the Mahanoy Area High School Band C/O Allison Kline, 1 Golden Bear Drive, Mahanoy City, PA 17948  would be appreciated by the family.  Casual attire is requested.
