Charles J. Chesko Sr.

Mr. Charles J. Chesko Sr., age 91, of Mahanoy City, died Friday night at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital. Born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital he was the son of the late Frank and Helen (Bielat) Chesko. He attended Mahanoy Township schools and was an Army veteran serving W.W.II. He had been employed with and retired from Quaker Maid Kitchens in Leesport. He was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City, enjoyed gardening and watching the Phillies. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife Lillian a son Joseph and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include one son Charles J. Chesko Jr. and his wife Ida of Mahanoy City, a brother Francis of Mahanoy City, a sister Helen Lauretti of Levittown, a granddaughter Stephanie Schroeder and her husband Daniel of State College, a grandson Christopher of Mahanoy City and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher on Friday morning at 9:30 AM at St. Teresa of Calcutta Church. Interment with military honors will follow at the White Church Cemetery in Rush Township. Friends may call at the church and visit with the family of Friday morning at the church beginning at 8:30 AM Contributions in his name to St. Teresa of Calcutta Church or the St. Jude's Children's Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
