Clayton E. Walker, age 88, of Mahanoy City, passed away Sunday night at his home. Born in Mahanoy Township he was the son of the late Frank and Elsie (Freeman) Walker. He was a 1952 graduate of JW Cooper High formerly in Shenandoah and served with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. He had been employed by the former Atlas Powder Company and last worked as a bus driver for the Mahanoy Area School District. He was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City and was a member of the Holy Name Society, Eucharistic Minister and sang in the choir at the former St. Fidelis Church. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were four sisters Margaret Walker, Susan Aponik, Edith Lipiec and Shirley Gottshall. Survivors include his wife of 60 years the former Mary Ann Swatsky, a daughter Deborah Ann of Mahanoy City, 2 sons Jeffrey and his companion Donna of Tennessee and Michael and his companion May of Barnesville, a brother Frank and his wife Lillian of New Jersey sisters Ruth Holden of Shenandoah and Grace Schuyler of Drums He is also survived by 3 grandchildren Justin (Amy), Steven (Samantha) and Tyler (Emily) and 4 great grandchildren Aubrey , Emma , Ensley and Ella , a sister in law Eugenia Golden as well as nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10 AM from St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City. Interment with military honors will follow at Sky View Memorial Park in Hometown. Friends may call at the church on Saturday morning beginning at 8:30 AM. Contributions in his name to the ACTION Youth Group or St. Teresa of Calcutta Church would be appreciated by the family and will be accepted at the visitation. David D.
