Clyde E. Schaeffer

Clyde E. Schaeffer, age 58, of Mahanoy City, died Sunday morning at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital he was the son of Helen Jensolowsky Schaeffer of Mahanoy City and the late Clyde L. Schaeffer.  He was a 1973 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and had been employed by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission where he was an emergency response worker. Clyde was a member of the Citizen's Fire Company # 2 and Mahanoy City EMS and was one of the first Emergency Medical Technicians in Mahanoy City. Clyde was also a volunteer and speaker for Alanon.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two daughters Shannon Schaeffer and her companion William Walsh of Frackville, Melissa Schaeffer and her companion Stephen Miersky of Shenandaoh, 3 brothers John and his companion Lynette Kurtz of Easton, Gary and his wife Ann of Gilberton, Lee and his wife Suzanne of Hazleton, a granddaughter Kaitlyn Miersky, one uncle, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial services on Saturday morning at 11 AM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City with the Rev. Fred T. Crawford officiating.  Interment will follow at the German Protestant Cemetery in Mahanoy Township.  Friends may call and visit with the family on Saturday morning beginning at 10 AM.  Contributions in Clydes name to the Citizens Fire Company # 2 would be appreciated by the family and will be accepted at the visitation.
