Dorothy M. Pompei, age 88, of Mahanoy City, loving mother and wife, started her heavenly birthday Tuesday morning March 3, 2015 at 3 AM.  Born in Mahanoy City she was the daughter of the late John & Anna (Petroshonus) Valenta.  She was a 1944 graduate of Mahanoy City High School and she along with her husband owned and operated Pompei's Restaurant for many years. A member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church whose  life, strength and spirit were visible to anyone who knew her and she will be deeply missed in this physical world.  For the prayers said, we thank you as her spirit was at peace, filled with faith and grace as she completed her earthly journey.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Anthony "Tony" and her son Louie who died in the line of duty serving as a police officer.  She is survived by sons Tony and his wife Donna of Long Beach, CA, Carlo and his wife Mary of Mahanoy City, Chester of Indian Wells, CA, daughters Dorothy Wargo and her husband John of Rowland Heights CA and Christine of Dillsburg PA.  Her 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren provided much love and joy in her later years.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher on Saturday morning at 10 AM from Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church.   There will be no procession from the funeral home.  Friends may call at the David D.
