Mr. Edward R. Isgate Jr., age 82, of Mahanoy City, died Tuesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center in Allentown. Born in Shenandoah he was the son of the late Edward and Catherine (Bender) Isgate Sr.. He was a 1956 graduate of Mahanoy Township High School and was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam war. He had been employed by Hershey in Hazleton for 28 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mahanoy City. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Philly's fan as well as Penn State. He was a lover of animals and all pets past and present. He was preceded in death by a sister Lorraine Paulukonis. He is survived by his wife of 53 years the former Carol Kaplafka, 2 sons Edward R. Isgate III and his wife Heather of Frackville and Ronald C. Isgate ESQ and his wife Donna of Pipersville, 2 grandsons Ronald C. Isgate Jr. and Nico Isgate as well as nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Wednesday afternoon at 1 PM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City. The Rev. Bridget Wagner will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Annunciation BVM Cemetery in Shenandoah Heights. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 11:30 AM.
