Emma L. DeAngelo Obituary

Emma L. DeAngelo, age 93, of Mahanoy City, died peacefully on Divine Mercy Sunday at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.  Born in Mahanoy City she was the daughter of the late Nicholas & Lucy (Cataldi) Mammarella Sr..  She attended area schools and was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church of Mahanoy City.  Her life's work, beginning at age 5, and in various ways, was spent caring for generations of her family.  Formal employment included domestic help for Doctor Fleck and other professionals in Mahanoy City, Calnon Laundry, some time in the local garment industry, co-owned and operated the Juke Box, worked at the Freight Station and lastly Gerry's Fashion Studio all formerly of Mahanoy City.  However her true gift was with the use of needle and thread as she was a excellent seamstress.  She also enjoyed making candy.  Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband Joseph F. DeAngelo and brothers Rocco George and Nicholas Mammarella Jr.  Survivors include a daughter Mary Lou Miller and her husband George of Quakertown, sons James and his wife Susan of Stroudsburg and Joseph and his wife Jackie of Coaldale, a brother Rev. Dominick Mammarella of Berwick,  sisters Theresa Kistler of Harrisburg, Virginia Martin, and Geraldine Scully and her husband John of Mahanoy City and Dolores Murtin and her husband Joseph of New Jersey, 5 grandsons Aaron, Adam, Anthony, John and Michael DeAngelo, great grandsons Charlie & Jakob DeAngelo, nieces and nephews.  Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral on Monday morning at 10:30 AM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by her brother at 11 AM at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church.  Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Mahanoy Township. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM and again on Monday beginning at 9:30 AM.  Contributions in Emma's name to Marian High School would be appreciated and will be accepted at the visitation.  Please visit www.jarrettfuneralhome.com for more information.
