Evan W. Owens Obituary

Mr. Evan William Owens, age 83 of Mahanoy City died August 22.  Born in Wilkes Barre he was the son of the late Evan William and Catherine Ethel Owens.  Mr. Owens was a graduate of Mahanoy Township High School and attended Penn State University.  He was a veteran of the United States Army having served three years.  Mr. Owens was employed as an accountant with Bethlehem Steel Corporation and after retirement became co-owner of Creative Printing Company in Ashland. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mahanoy City.  Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were 2 brothers William Howell Owens and his wife Jane and Edward Martin Owens and a nephew James E. Owens.  He is survived by his wife Margaret "Peggy" (Broderick) Owens, a daughter Maureen Broderick, a sister in law June G. Owens, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Monday at 11 AM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City. Interment will be in  Annunciation BVM Cemetery in Shenandoah. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers contributions in Evan's name to the First United Methodist Church or the charity of choice would be appreciated by the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
