Frederick J. Heffner, age 79, of Mahanoy City, passed away Tuesday at
Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill East in Pottsville,  Born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital he was the son of the late Frederick T. and Mary (McClafferty) Heffner.  He was a 1963 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and earned his municipal police officer training at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.  He was employed as an officer by the Mahanoy City Police Department  for many years. He was a member of the Fraternal  Order of Police and a former member of the Humane Fire Company # 1.   Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife Barbara in 2019 and a sister Teresa Peckman.  Survivors include 3 sons James of Gilberton, Fred of Allentown and Christopher and his wife Brooke of Monroe, NC, a sister Mary Harach, a granddaughter Piper Heffner as well as nieces and nephews.  Services will be private.  David D.
