George "Shorty" Centek, age 87, of Mahanoy City, died Friday morning at his home.Born in Mahanoy City he was the son of the late John & Susan (Hasara) Centek.  He was a 1945 graduate of Mahanoy City High School and had been employed by General Cigar Factory and last worked for and retired from City Shirt Factory.  He was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church of Mahanoy City and was faithful in attendance to the Perpetual Adoration Chapel.
  Preceding him in death were 3 brothers Joseph, Andrew and John.  
Survivors include one sister Mary Vesci of Mahanoy City, a niece Judy Straub and her husband Bruce of Shenandoah, a nephew John Centek of Mahanoy City, great niece Danna Mazack and her husband Jeff and 2 great great neices Starr and Brianna Mazack and his close friends John Clark and Bonnie Craig. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Msgr. William Handges on Wednesday morning at 10:30 AM from Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church.  Interment will follow at Sky View Memorial Park in Hometown.  Friends may call at the church on Wednesday morning beginning at 9 AM.  David D.
