Gertrude V. Witchey, age 85, formerly of Mahanoy City, died Tuesday morning at Highland Manor & Rehabilitation Center in Exeter.  Born in Mahanoy City she was the daughter of the late Anthony & Ann Zuk.  She attended area schools and had been employed with General Cigar Factory, Kalon Laundry and Whalen Laundry and Morgan Knitting Mills.  She was preceded  in death by her husband Eugene in 1993 and a brother Thomas.  Survivors include a son Louis of Wilkes Barre, a daughter Ann Ward and her husband Paul of Nuangola, a sister Sylvia Mooney of Morea, grandchildren Louis & Dana Witchey and Amy, Jeffrey amd PJ Ward and a great grandson Nicholas.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass Of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10 AM from Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City.  Interment will follow in St. Canicus Cemetery in Mahanoy Township. Friends may call at the church on Saturday morning beginning at 9 AM.  David D.
