Henry P. McCabe Obituary
Henry P. McCabe, age 91, of Mahanoy City, died Saturday morning at his home. Born in Gilberton, he was the son of the late Henry and Edith (Gerlott) McCabe. He was a 1942 graduate of Mahanoy Township and served with the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre of Operations. He had been employed with and retired from Kline Brothers Auto parts of Shenandoah. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Mahanoy City and served on the church council, he was a leader of Scout Pack 54 Webelos for 25 years and received the Lamb Award for his contribution to scouting. He was also a coach for midget football. Preceding him in death were a brother Robert and 2 sisters Ruth Still and Jean Krips. A devoted husband , father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 57 years the former Marie McLaughlin, 3 sons Thomas McCabe and his wife Teckla of Mahanoy City, Paul McCabe and his wife Kathy of Wyoming, PA, James McCabe and his wife Angela of Brockton, a daughter Cheryl Fegley and her husband Wayne of Locust Valley, grandchildren Thomas McCabe and his wife Colleen, Ashley DeWitt and her husband Barry Jr., Shane McCabe and his fiance' Lori Bashinsky, Corinne and Colleen McCabe, Candace Fegley and her fiance' Andrew Morgan, Nathan, Nolan and Colin Fegley and Sarah and Anna McCabe, great grandchildren Brady, Molly and Caitlin McCabe and Harper and Barry DeWitt III , a sister in law Betty Jones and nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Rite of Christian Burial on Friday morning at 11 AM from Christ Lutheran Church in Mahanoy City. The Rev. Fred T. Crawford will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at the German Protestant Cemetery In Mahanoy Township. Friends may call at the church on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM and again on Friday beginning at 10 AM. Contributions in Henry's name to the Christ Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or The Christ Lutheran Church Brick Pointing Fund would be appreciated. David D.
