James Bialek Obituary

James L. "Jim" Bialek, age 77, of Delano, died Friday evening at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem.  Born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital, he was the son of the late Leon and LaRue (Pelton) Bialek.  He was a graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and attended Penn State University.  He served with the US Navy during the Vietnam War.  He had been employed as an officer for the Mahanoy City Police Department, owned and operated his restaurant BiLo's Island hot dog stand in Mahanoy City and last worked for and retired from SCI Mahanoy where he was a Machine Trades Instructor and Locksmith.  He was a member of St. Richard's Church in Barnesville, a life member of the Rainbow Hose Fire Company in Schuylkill Haven, the American Legion and was a volunteer for the Char-Wills German Shepherd Rescue of New Ringgold .Survivors include his wife of 36 years Beth and his adopted family Maggie O'Rourke, Kathy Sweeney and her husband Leo, and Susie and Laura Sweeney all of Barnesville and his cousins Jeannie and Joanne Paslawsky and Joseph Baddick and family.    Private services with military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.  David D.
