James Davidson Obituary

James J. "Whitey" Davidson, age 81, of Mahanoy City, died Tuesday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill-East in Pottsville. He was born in Barnesville and was the son of the late Elmer "Jack" and Marie (Ward) Davidson. He attended Mahanoy Township Schools. He worked most of his life as a factory machine operator but also had been employed by General Motors in New Jersey, owned and operated the former Sippie's Cafe in Mahanoy City and last worked maintenance at Mahanoy Elderly Housing. He was a life member of the Mahanoy City Social and Athletic Club, the Shenandoah Pumping Station and a former member of the Washington Hook and Ladder Fire Company in Mahanoy City, He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a fan of the Buffalo Bills. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters Marie Boyle and Patsy Saladigo and a brother Elmer. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Frances "Tina" (Holzenthaler) Davidson, 2 sons James and his wife Tara and Michael and his wife Angela all of Shenandoah, a daughter Nanette Macleary and her husband Sean of Mahanoy City, 5 grandchildren Samantha, Jimmy and Mikayla Davidson and Nathan and Meghan Macleary as well as nieces and nephews.  Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM at David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City. Funeral services will be privately held Saturday with the Rev. Fred T. Crawford officiating.
