James M. Mitchell Obituary
James M. "Jim" Mitchell, age 71, of Mahanoy City died Tuesday afternoon at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital he was the son of the late Edward and Harriet (Hillibush) Mitchell. He was a 1960 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and served with the United Sates Navy. He had been employed with Eagle Brothers Shirt Factory and last worked for Ateeco in Shenandoah. Jim was a member of American Legion Post 74 of Mahanoy City and a life member of the Park Crest Fish and Game Club. An avid outdoors man he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed visiting casinos and watching the Eagles, Phillies and NASCAR. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were a brother Edward and a nephew Jason Mitchell. Survivors include his wife of 47 years the former Joanne Stasak, a daughter Michelle Dunlap and a son James J. Mitchell and his wife Angel all of Mahanoy City, a brother Joseph and his wife Barbara of William Penn, a sister in law Carol Hubosky and her husband Frank of Mahanoy City, 3 grandchildren Storm and Cheyenne Dunlap and Keegan Mitchell, nieces and nephews and his dog Precious. Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral services to be held Friday evening at 7:30 PM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City with the Rev. Fred T. Crawford officiating. Interment will be held privately at the German Protestant Cemetery in Mahanoy Township. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening beginning at 6 PM.
