James A. Schropp

It is with heavy heart that we share that James A. Schropp, 85, of Mahanoy Township passed away January 12, 2023 from complications following a massive stroke in October.  Jim was born at Locust Mountain Hospital of September 24, 1937, he was raised in Mahanoy Township and attended Mahanoy Township schools.  He lived in Shenandoah for 35+  years and worked at General battery in Hamburg then at Agmet in Delano.  He then moved to Glendon patch where he grew up.  Jim loved spending time taking walks in the surrounding mountains, going to car shows and farmers markets, rescuing cats, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his mother Adelle (Mreese) Schropp, father James R. Schropp, his wife Carol Ann Dombrosky, brothers Joseph and Casimir, sisters Madeline Reese and Elizabeth Henning.  He is survived by his daughter Terri (Jim) Rinker, and grandson Joshua Rinker, brothers John (Karen), Clement and Bob and a sister Mary (Bob) Snyder and cat Greta.  He is also survived by a daughter Peg (Sean) O'Neill and a grandson Jakob Taylor.Viewing will be private.  His burial will be at the White Church Cemetery in Rush Township.  In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA, 18 Wertz Drive, Pine Grove, PA  17963..  David D.Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City is in charge of arrangements.  Please visit www.jarrettfuneralhome.com for more information.
