Joseph E. Serano Obituary
Mr. Joseph E. Serano, age 93, of Mahanoy City, died Thursday at Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill, East Norwegian Street in Pottsville. Born in Mahanoy City, he was the son of the late James and Cecelia (Tavani) Serano. He was a graduate of Mahanoy City High School and served with the United States Army during World War II. He worked for A & P store for over 30 years and at Draper & Yost Plumbing and Heating in Hometown. He was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City. Joe was a loving husband, papap and uncle. He was selfless and faithful and would do anything for his children and was very proud of his grandchildren. In May of this year, he lost his beloved wife of 66 years, Patricia Serano. His life has not been the same since her passing.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers James, Doro, Philip, Raymond, and sisters Frances and Lillian. Surviving are his children; a son, Joseph and his wife Bonnie of Middleport, two daughters, Marie Bartling and her husband Bruce of Malvern, Anne Knapp and her husband Tim of Lebanon.
He is also survived by grandchildren Benjamin Serano and his wife Destinee, Solomon Serano, Sarah and Hannah Bartling, Elliot and Elizabeth Knapp, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be conducted by the Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher on Tuesday morning at 10 AM in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Mahanoy Township. COVID 19 regulations will be followed. Contributions in Joe's name to the Hillside SPCA, PO Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901 would be appreciated by the family. David D.
