Joseph D. "Pe-Pi" Giacobbe, age 75, a resident of the Mahanoy City High Rise, died Saturday at Schuylkill Medical Center in Pottsville.  Born in and a life long resident of Mahanoy City, he was the son of the late Francis and Maria (DeGiorgio) Giacobbe.  Joe was a 1956 graduate of Mahanoy City High School.
He had been employed at the Smoke Shop, Hruniak's Pizza Shop and Angela's Family Restaurant all of Mahanoy City.  He was a long time and active member of the Mahanoy City Fire Police.  Survivors include a brother Carmen of Mahanoy City, 3 nephews Frank Giacobbe of Allentown, Stanley Sopko Jr. of Mahanoy City, Matt Sopko of Barnesville and 2 nieces Vivian Bondura of Wilmington NC and Pam Antonio of Moscow.  Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Saturday morning at 11 AM From David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City with the Rev. Fred T. Crawford officiating.  Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Mahanoy Township.  Friends may call and visit with the family on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
