Kathleen J. "Kathy" McKerns, age 47, of Mahanoy City, passed away Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown.  Born in Pottstown she was the daughter of the late James G. and Sandra (Shoup) McKerns.  She was a graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and earned her BS degree in Behavioral Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University.  She worked as a Mental Health Technician for Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill in Pottsville.  She was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City and served on Mahanoy City Borough Council. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was her companion  Jason Sivak Sr. in 2009.  She is survived by a daughter Paige Sivak of Frackville and a son Jason Sivak Jr. of Mahanoy City and a granddaughter Athena Sivak. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday evening from 5-7 PM at David D.
