Kathleen “Kay” Conroy, 91,of Mahanoy City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2 with family by her side during a short stay at the LVHN Schuylkill-East Hospital.

Born October 15, 1933 in Morea, she was a daughter of the late Fred J. and Mary R. Kreitzer Klein and graduated from Mahanoy Township High School in 1951.

She was a member of the former St. Canicus Church, Mahanoy City; St. Richard’s Church, Barnesville; and the Mahanoy Area Democrat Women’s Club.

She retired from the Bureau of Worker’s Compensation, where she worked as a clerk stenographer.  During retirement, she was last employed as a court attendant for the Court of Common Pleas of Schuylkill County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Conroy in 1997; her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth K. Coombe in 2018; two great-granddaughters, Jennifer and Jessica Chrin in 2008, and a lifelong best friend, Mrs. Anna Zimmerman in 2008.  

She is survived by daughters, Mrs. Cindy Long and her husband, Thomas, of Barnesville, PA, and Mrs. Kathy Wall and her husband, Scott, of Mahanoy City, PA.  She is also survived by three grandchildren, Dr. Tammy Chrin and her husband, Jeffrey; Mr. James Wall; and Mr. Michael Wall; and one great-granddaughter, Miss Christina Chrin; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning from  St. Richard’s Church, Barnesville, with Rev. Robert Finlan officiating.  A visitation will be held from10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.  Interment will follow at St. Canicus Parish Cemetery, Mahanoy City.  In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations in Kay’s name to MMI Preparatory School, 154 Centre St., Freeland, PA 18224 or the Humane Fire Company, 320 W.
