Lavada M. Schaeffer, age 86, of Mahanoy City, passed away Tuesday morning at Schuylkill Center in Pottsville where she had been a resident the past three years.  Born in Florida she was the daughter of the late William & Ivy Bedee.  She graduated high school in Florida.  Residing most of her life in Mahanoy City she worked as a homemaker and was a member of the former Grace Reform Church in Mahanoy City.  Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband Edward D. Schaeffer, 2 sisters Helen Bailey and Rose Brown and one brother William Bedee.  The last member of her immediate family she is survived by three daughters  Lavada Poremba of Scotia NY, Jeanette Seward and her husband Raymond of Barnesville, Elizabeth Mihalick of Mahanoy City, a son Edward and his wife Michelle of Weatherly, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral on Saturday morning at 11 AM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City with the Rev. Robert Adams officiating.  Interment will follow at the German Protestant Cemetery in Mahanoy Township.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning beginning at 10 AM.   Contributions in Lavada's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 3544 N.
