Louise M. Yankus, age 95, of Mahanoy City, passed away Sunday at Shenandoah Senior Living Community. Born in Morea she was the daughter of the late Gregori and Mary (Augustine) Onori. She was a 1945 graduate of Mahanoy Township High School and been employed for many years by Eagle Brothers. She served as a judge of elections and also on her high school class reunion committee and was known for her famous meatballs. She was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City. Preceding her in death were her husband Andrew S. Yankus in 1980 and siblings Casper, Mary, Helen, Connie, Margaret, Lucy and Joseph. Survivors include two sons Joseph Yankus and his wife Trish, Andy Yankus and his wife Annette all of Mahanoy City, a daughter Mary Louise Drosdak and her companion John Mraz of Allentown, a sister Rosemary Shugar of Philadelphia, 5 grandchildren Nicole Brouse, Angela and Maria Yankus, Brittany and Olivia Drosdak and 2 great grandchildren Lindsay and Logan Brouse as well as nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. Robert George on Friday morning at 10:30 AM from St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City. Interment will follow in Assumption BVM Cemetery in Mahanoy Township. Friends may call at the church on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM and again of Friday morning from 9:30 AM until time of Mass. Contributions on Louise's name to St. Teresa of Calcutta Church would be appreciated by the family and will be accepted at the visitation. David D.
