Manuel E. Gonzales Jr.

Mr. Manuel E. "Manny" Gonzales Jr., age 98, of Mahanoy City, died unexpectedly Friday morning at his home.  Born in Meadowbrook W. VA he was the son of the late Manuel & Raphaela (Fernandez) Gonzales Sr.  He was a 1935 graduate of Mahanoy City High School and served with the United States Army during World War II.  
He worked in and retired from the construction industry.  He was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church and American Legion Post 74 both of Mahanoy City and Laborers Union Local 1174.  Preceding him in death were a brother Joseph killed in action diring WWII and a sister Katherine Fernandez.  Survivors include a sister Lena Gomez and brothers Theodore Gonzales both of Mahanoy City and Emil of Bethlehem, Albert and Ralph both of Virginia, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephwews and great great nieces and nephews.  Services will be announced at a later date by David D.
