Martin Hutira Obituary

Mr. Martin Hutira, age 94, of Locust Valley, Barnesville, died Friday morning at Heritage Hill Senior Living Community in Weatherly.  Born and educated in Locust Valley he was the son of the late John & Anna (Sako) Hutira.  He was an Army veteran of WWII having been in the European Theater of Operations and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.  He worked in the local mines and owned and operated his farm in Locust Valley retiring in 1982.  He was a member of St. Peter's UCC Locust Valley, a life and the oldest member of the Ryan Township Fire Company and was a member of the American Legion. Preceding him in death were his wife the former Helen Ann Swindro in 2005, 2 brothers John and Steve and a sister Sue Dougherty. Survivors include a son Martin J. Hutira and his wife Judy of Locust Valley, a brother Paul of Orwigsburg, 3 grand daughters
Tammy  Hornung and her husband Timothy, and Joy Gambone and her husband Michael all of Locust Valley, and Hope Green and her husband Leland of Maryland, great grandchildren Hailey, Madison and Brooke Hornung,  Michael and Luke Gambone and Benjamin and Savannah Greeen, nieces and nephews and his extended family, his caregivers at Heritage Hill. Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Monday morning at 11 AM at St. Peter's UCC in Locust Valley with the Rev. Janet L. Kline officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Monday morning beginning at 9 AM.  Contributions to the church in Martin's name would be appreciated by the family and will be accepted at the visitation.  David D.
