Mary Souchak of Mahanoy City died Saturday while a resident of The Jewish Home in Avoca.
Born June 23, 1914 Mary was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Pleszkoch.  In 1939 she married Peter Souchak who preceded her in death in 1987.  She was a longtime beautician in Mahanoy City and also worked as a sewing operator at the Janowitz Factory. Mary was a faithful member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church where she was very active with the church, "pinching" the pierogi, baking the "Babka" and making the "Bleenies" for the annual church bazaars.  Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were her daughter Sandra Souchak Barron in 2004, 2 sisters Sue and Julie and 2 brothers Mike and Andy.  Survivors include 2 sons Andre and his wife Mitzi of State College and Gregory and his wife Gail of Moscow.
Mary was proud of her 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Rev. James Carroll on Saturday morning at 11 AM from St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Mahanoy City.  Interment will be private in St. Mary's parish cemetery in Mahanoy Township.  Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM.  Contributions in Mary's name to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated and will be accepted at the visitation.  David D.
