Ralph P. Brokenshire Obituary
Ralph P. Brokenshire, age 94, of Mahanoy City, died Sunday night at Schuylkill Center in Pottsville. Born in Mahanoy City he was the son of the late George and Elva (Tregea) Brokenshire Sr. He was a 1939 graduate of Mahanoy City High School. Staff Sergeant Brokenshire was a World War II veteran having served in the European Theatre of Operations as a ball turret gunner on B 17 bomber having flown 35 combat missions. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 74 both of Mahanoy City. He had been employed in the local mines and also did contracting work with his brother Allen. Preceding him in death were 5 brothers Walter, Gerald, George, John and Allen. Survivors include 2 brothers Wilbur of Mahanoy City, James and his wife Nancy of Frackville, a sister Elva Mae of Bensalem, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral to be held Thursday afternoon at 1 PM from the First United Methodis Church in Mahanoy City. The Rev. Christopher Wollyung will officiate. Interment will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery in Mahanoy Township. Friends may call at the church on Thursday beginning at 12 noon.
