Ronald  "Ron" W. Souchak, age 70, of 200 E. Center St., Mahanoy City, died Saturday morning at Shenandoah Manor.  Born at Shamokin Hospital he was the son of the late Wassel and Evelyn ( Zaremba) Souchak.  He was a 1961 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and also the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.  He served with the United States Navy.  He was a State Police Trooper for 26 years having last worked out of the Frackville Barracks and retiring with the rank of Corporal.  He was also employed for 16 years with Service Electric as an installation supervisor.  He was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta church serving as a Eucharistic Minster and sang in the choir, BPOE 695, American Legion Post 74, TPA and the Good American Hose Company # 3 all of Mahanoy City, PA State Troopers Association Immediate Relief Association, Retired State Police Association, was a counselor at Camp Cadet Troop L of Reading, was a coach for the Mahanoy Area Midget Football Association, and was an announcer for Mahanoy Area High School Football where his hallmark was the Golden Bear Growl.  Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were an infant son Ronald Frank Souchak, 2 brothers Edward and Joseph. Survivors include his wife of 47 years the former Elaine A. Thrower, 2 daughters Kristin Nunes and her husband Emerson, Kimberly A. Souchak all of Mahanoy City, a son Ronald J. Souchak and his wife Stacey of Ashland, a sister Vilma Sims and her husband Andrew of Levittown,
4 grandchildren Shane, Alivia, Mason and Brody and nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Ron's funeral on Saturday morning at 10:30 AM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM in Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church.  Interment with military and state police honors will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery in Mahanoy Township.  Friends may call at he funeral home of Friday evening from 6 to 9 PM and again on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of services.  Contributions in Ron's name to the ACTION Youth Group, Mahanoy City Visiting Nurse Association, Mahanoy City Public Library or the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.  Please visit www.jarrettfuneralhome.com for more information.  BPOE 695 Lodge of Sorrow at 6:30 PM  Good American Hose Company 7:30 PM   Fraternal Order of Police  8 PM
