Rose V. Chesko Obituary
Rose V. Chesko, age 85, of Mahanoy City died Tuesday afternoon at Shenandoah Manor. Born in Mahanoy City she was the daughter of the late Anthony F. and Stella (Adams) Pangonis. She was a 1944 graduate of Mahanoy City High School and had been employed with Janowitz Dress Factory. She along with her husband also owned and operated Chesko Fabrics in Mahanoy City from 1954 until 1989 where Rose shared her sewing skills with others by offering lessons at her store. She was a member of the Salem Evangelical Congregational Church in Mahanoy City where she taught Sunday school. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was a brother William Pangonis. Survivors include her husband of 65 years Francis C. Chesko, 2 daughters Roseann Hayes and her husband Gregory of Red Hill, Susan Kester and her husband Mark of Mahanoy City, a son Jim Chesko and his wife Linda of Hamilton NJ, a sister Jean Aschman of Mahanoy City, 6 grandchildren Patrick, Christopher and Eric Hayes, Amy Marnell, and Jennifer and Brian Chesko, 3 great grandchildren Kiley and Samantha Hayes and Allison Rose Marnell, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral on Saturday morning at 11 AM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City with the Rev. Janet L. Kline officiating. Interment will be in the German Protestant Cemetery in Mahanoy Township. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until time of services. In lieu of flowers Contributions in Rose's name to the Mahanoy City Visiting Nurse Association or Christ United Church of Christ of Barnesville would be appreciated by the family and will be accepted at the visitation.
