Sophia Nellie Stetts Obituary

Sophia Nellie Stetts of Morea Colliery passed away peacefully Sunday January 19th at her home.  Born in Frackville September 11, 1926 she was the daughter of the late John and Stella (Stec) Studlick.   She was a 1944 graduate of Frackville High School and was co-owner of Stetts' Cafe Morea along with her sister in law Josephine . She was a long-time member of St. John's Polish National Catholic Church in Frackville and was a member and past president of the Blessed Sacrament Society.  Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband Michael Stetts Sr. two brothers Peter and Joseph Studlick a sister Josephine Sahutsky, brothers in law and wives Josephine and Metro Stetts and Mary and John Stetts,  her aunts Lottie Snokus and her husband John, Josephine Brynarski and her husband John and Srs. Leonilla, Aegidia and Nepomiczine.   She is survived by 4 children Marcia A. Hessert and Michele D. Shinn of Charleston SC, Deborah M. Stetts of Burlington NC, and Michael J. Stetts of Jacksonville Beach Florida. She was grandmother to Edmund, Michael, Crystin and her husband Brandon Cornes, Jennifer Stetts and John Comstock, and great grandmother to Katelyn and Edmund Hessert, Tula Comstock and Callen Cornes. She is also survived by her godchild Carol Blackwell and family, nieces and nephews Joanne Plaxa, Joan Carson, and Diane and George Evans Family, George and Sandra Sahutsky family, Janice and John Lavelle and family, Edward and Kathy Stetts and family, Betty Ann Thomas and family, Rose and Ron Buren family and the Gober family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Johns Polish National Catholic Church on  Thursday morning at 10 AM.  Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM and again on Thursday morning from 9 AM until time of Mass.  Contributions in Sophia's name to St. John's Church  414 W. Oak St. Frackville, PA 17931 or the charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.  David D.
