Theodore Romanick Obituary

Theodore "Fritz" Romanick, age 91, of Park Place, died Friday morning at his home.  Born in Park Place he was the son of the late Theodore and Pearl (Barna) Romanick.  He attended Mahanoy Township schools and was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater of Operations and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.   He had been employed in the local coal industry and last worked for and retired from Sargeant Art in Hazleton.  He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Mahanoy City and American Legion Post 74 also of Mahanoy City.  Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were an infant daughter Alicia, 4 sisters Anna Ziats, Mary Andrews, Nancy and Pearl Romanick and 3 brothers Steve, John and Michael.  The last member of his immediate family he is survived by his wife of 54 years the former Julie Bumbulsky, 2 sons Theodore F. Romanick at home and Robert J. Romanick and his companion Marie Knadler of Park Place, nieces and nephews.  Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Tuesday at 12 Noon from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City.  Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James Carroll at 12:30 PM at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Mahanoy City.  Interment with military honors will be in the parish cemetery in Mahanoy Township.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10 AM until time of service.  There will not be any calling hours on Monday evening.  Contributions in Fritz's name to St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family.  For more information please visit www.jarrettfuneralhome.com.
