Thomas W. "Tom" Copeland, age 76, of Frackville, passed away Saturday evening at the home of his partner Dani Pinto of Sugarloaf. Tom spent his final weeks in the care and comforting presence of his children and partner.
Born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital, he was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Pruett) Copeland. He graduated from Mahanoy Area High School and served with the United States Navy. He had been employed by Bemis Company of Hazleton for over 40 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mahanoy City, American Legion Post 74, Mahanoy City, the Thaddeus Kosciuszko Polish American Citizens Club, and a former member of American Legion Post 699 in Nuremberg. Preceding him in death was a brother, Brian Copeland. He is survived by a daughter, Katherine Copeland of Bradenton, FL; a son, Tyler Copeland of St. Petersburg, FL; two sisters, Barbara Getz and her husband Louis of New Boston and Peggy Tiboni and her husband Bruce of Frackville, as well as nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Friday at 11 AM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City. Pastor Bob Schrepple will officiate. Interment will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
